Due to COVID-19, the opening hours and access to these services may differ from what is noted here. Please contact the individual services for more information on the current hours and access.

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Domestic Violence Service (Children) – East Riding

The domestic violence children’s service offers one to one support to children and young people between the ages of 6 to 16 who have experienced domestic abuse and live within the East Riding. It may be that you have overheard, witnessed or been involved in incidents of domestic abuse. You may be upset by the effect that the abuse has had upon your family, or it may be that you are a young person who is in an abusive relationship who requires help and support.

CAMHS Eating Disorder Service (East Riding)

This Eating Disorder Service is available for children and young people. You can self-refer by contacting the service directly. The service offers support from a range of professionals including a psychologist and a psychiatrist, a dietician, and a team of nurses, with support provided to both service users and their families.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (East Riding)

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) helps young people up to the age of 18 years old, who are struggling with their emotions, relationships, personal development or their behaviour. If you are over the age of 16, you can self-refer to the service. If you are under 16, the referral will need to be made for you by a professional you are seeing or a parent/guardian.

Across East Riding and Hull there are many charities and not for profit agencies working to help asylum seekers and refugees. The Advice Forward Partnership for Hull and East Riding maintains a helpful list of organisations that can help.

Domestic Violence Service (Adults) – East Riding

The East Riding domestic violence adult service offers support to anyone living with or fleeing from domestic violence and abuse. It is available to any East Riding resident aged 16 years or over. They provide emotional and practical support with welfare benefits, legal and housing rights, staying safely at home (including providing home security measures) and help with housing options. You can self-refer to this local service.

Macmillan Community Nurses (East Riding)

The Macmillan nursing team provides palliative and end of life care and support to all patients who have a life limiting disease in the community. They work with other healthcare professionals, social services, statutory, voluntary and private agencies to assess patients' needs and to provide patient focused, responsive, timely and sensitively-delivered palliative and end of life care. Optometry Service (For Minor Eye Conditions)

Without the need for a GP referral, the East Riding optometry service can deal with a number of minor eye conditions including flashes or floaters, sudden changes in vision (but not loss of vision), eye pain or discomfort (injury, discharge, sticky), red eye, something in your eye, emergency contact lens removal, dry gritty eye, watery eye, in-growing eyelashes, lumps and bumps or lids or lashes or around the eye, and recent onset double vision. You must be over 18 and to access this service.

Mental Health Wellbeing Coaches

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach team can support you with stress, feeling lonely, panic, sadness, bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression/low mood, sleeping problems, relationship challenges, COVID-19 recovery, chronic pain and many other issues. You can self-refer to the service and your coach will take you through a personalised wellbeing plan that will support your mental health recovery.

YourHealth Stop Smoking Service

If you want to stop smoking but don’t know where to start a Stop Smoking Advisor will be able to help you work out exactly how to begin your quit process, set a quit date and provide you with Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to support you in quitting and making your quit a successful one. The YOURhealth team are friendly, understanding and supportive and will help and encourage you to achieve a successful quit and maintain the quit for good. You can self-refer to this service.

Healthtrainers

Healthtrainers provide personal support and motivation to adults across the East Riding who wish to lead a healthier lifestyle. We all have issues in our lives which may affect our health in some way. You may want to get fitter, control your weight, have a healthier diet, quit smoking or cut down on alcohol. You may want to reduce your stress levels, or just feel better about yourself. If you want to become healthier but don't know where to start, a healthtrainer will be able to help you.

Healthtrainers provide personal support and motivation to adult Carers across the East Riding who wish to lead a healthier lifestyle. You might want to find ways to improve your physical activity from home, improve your stress and anxiety or possibly look at ways to still feel connected to your friends and family when getting out and about as freely as you might like may be a challenge.

Hull & East Riding Children’s Neurodiversity Service

This service can work with a neurodiverse child/young person and their family to understand what support is needed and how to help. They can provide support to access a range of services that could include assessment for a range of neurodiverse conditions. A child/young person does not need to have a diagnosis to access the service. Requests for support can be made directly by young people, parents and carers themselves.

Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team

The Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team is able to support people who are experiencing a crisis with their mental health, and who think they are at risk of harming themselves or others but who do not need immediate medical assistance. You can also call the team if you are considering attending Accident and Emergency for help with your mental health. The team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for patients and carers to ring for advice.

Conifer Sexual & Reproductive Health Services

Conifer provides a friendly, professional, non-judgemental and confidential sexual health services throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The service can be accessed direct and does not require a referral. East Riding Partnership – Drug & Alcohol Services

The East Riding Partnership offers a variety of addiction services in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The team provides support to service users but also to carers, family members and professionals seeking advice regarding drug or alcohol use or signposting to other services. Self-referral is via direct access drop-ins, which are held weekly at Withernsea Community Hospital and Rosedale Community Unit in Hedon.

MSK Physiotherapy Service for the East Riding

The Physiotherapy MSK (Musculoskeletal) service in the East Riding of Yorkshire provides an outpatient physiotherapy service for adults and children aged 5 years and above who are registered with an East Riding GP and have problems affecting bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves. You can self-refer to the physiotherapy service if you are aged 18 and over and currently registered with an East Riding GP and seeking help with a Musculoskeletal Condition.

The Emotional Wellbeing Service is the Lead Provider for IAPT in East Riding. Working in partnership with other therapy providers such as; Relate, House of Light and IESO (type-talk online therapy) to offer free NHS services for adults aged 16 or over who are experiencing common mental health problems.

NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme

The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) identifies those at diabetes high risk and refers them onto a behaviour change programme.
