Holderness Health Green Team!

We are pleased to be able to share that Holderness Health now has a “Green Team”. The group is made up of GP’s, managers and staff. We have recently had our first meeting to look at sustainability within the practices, looking at what we are already doing to help reduce our carbon footprint, and looking at where we can start to improve.

Every little helps, and we hope to do our bit to improve what we do now and improve things for future generations.

The NHS aim is to be the world’s first net zero national health service.

They have set two targets:

  • For the emissions we control directly (the NHS Carbon Footprint), we will reach net zero by 2040, with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction by 2028 to 2032;
  • For the emissions we can influence (our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus), we will reach net zero by 2045, with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction by 2036 to 2039.

The NHS is in a strong position with over a decade of expertise and progress in sustainable healthcare, and the knowledge that our staff support our response to climate change.

We will share more news as we look to improve our sustainability over the coming months.
